Also called the “lunchtime peel,” microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation of the skin that removes the uppermost layer of dead skin cells. During the procedure a diamond tipped medical microdermabrasion wand is used to gently remove the dead surface layers. Suction is used in conjunction with exfoliation, and the underlying epidermis is stimulated. This promotes collagen generation and increases circulation. This procedure is effective in treating fine lines and wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, sun damage, acne scarring, oily, and dry or acne prone skin. This is a 30 minute procedure with no downtime. Treatments can be repeated every two weeks for correction of skin conditions, or four weeks for general skin maintenance. Best results are seen with a series of 3 to 6 treatments.
